Riding a bicycle is quite problematic in Brno, due to a lack of bicycle trails. Nevertheless, the region south of Brno offers various facilities for cyclists; the most interesting are the trails leading through vineyards and wine-cellar villages. The trails winding through Znojmo, Mikulov, Hustopeče, Velké Pavlovice, Protivín, Hodonín, Kyjov, Strážnice, Uherské Hradiště and many other towns. These can be accessed from Brno on a bicycle via the track leading to Modřice from the southern part of Brno. Using a train is also a good choice, due to bicycle-lending offices at railway stations in Znojmo, Břeclav, Veselí nad Moravou, Kyjov and Hodonín. 6 hours cost 115 CZK, 12 hours 170 CZK (4€ and 6€ respectively, and the price of rental for the railway passengers can be around 20% lower if you show your ticket).
Warning: Don’t drink and ride. Drinking any alcohol before riding a bicycle is illegal in the Czech Republic, even on the wine trails, and you can be charged with drunk driving.
