The number of Czechs who have lost jobs over alcohol consumption at work has been rising, according to a poll conducted by the Commservis.com agency in 71 Czech firms in March and released to CTK Tuesday.

The Czech Republic along with Britain are drafting an initiative aimed at pushing the European Council to adopt a more active stance on supporting economic growth and a unified European market. According to ČTK, Czech Prime Minister Petr Nečas and his British counterpart David Cameron are planning to submit a formal letter outlining the initiative to the president of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy. Aside from the two countries, other member states such as the Netherlands may sign the initiative.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has reported that the mainstream education system in the Czech Republic eliminates socially disadvantaged children.
