Getting there by train

January 17th, 2009

Due to new railway corridors and the modern trains on EuroCity lines, trains are the fastest and most comfortable way to travel to Brno from the other central European metropolises. The trip from Vienna usually takes one hour and 40 minutes. In 2007, the price for one-way ticket to Brno with carrier České dráhy is 300 CZK.

Line EC 103 Polonia connects Warsaw with Přerov, from where it is easy to continue to Brno with line R734; the whole voyage takes 7 hours. Travelling in the opposite direction is possible with line R 737 going to “Hranice na Moravě”, which is connected with “Warszawa Centralna” station by line EC 107
PRAHA.

Several straight lines between Berlin and Brno, conneting the two cities within 7 hours and 30 minutes, are departing every day.

There is only one train station for the long-distance lines in Brno, its large secession building is located at Nádražní Street, in front of the tram station “Hlavní nádraží”. Reserving or buying tickets for international lines is possible in “ČD centrum” in the left part of the building (after entering the main entrance at Nádražní Street).

This train section isn’t clear or complete. Should have information not only about getting into Brno from Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, but also how to get OUT of Brno. Berlin and Warsaw are secondary)
