Attractions near Brno

Five interesting historical places included in the Unesco World Heritage list are available within one and a half hours by car. The town of Třebíč with a magical old Jewish quarter can be reached easily by trains departing every 2 hours from the train main station.

Kroměříž , with a castle built in 13th century and surrounded by a romantic park from the 19th century is connected with Brno by buses departing regularly from Zvonařka station. A castle and large natural gardens with a 60- meter tall minaret in Lednice and a renaissance Square with arcades in Telč are among the most romantic places of the central European region. Mikulov, accessible in only one hour by a bus departing from Zvonařka station is worth seeing for its old Jewish quarter and the “Holy Hill“ above the town, crowned by St. Sebastian Church, an important place of catholic pilgrimage. The region around Mikulov is known for producing good wine and there are festivals celebrating fresh young wine every November.
North of Brno is a region filled with large caves available to public, known as the Moravian Karst .

In the beginning of every December there is a large reconstruction of the Battle of Austerlitz of 1805 , known as one of Napoleon Bonaparte’s greatest victories, in Slavkov, located 25 km eastern of Brno. The show is popular especially among boys and fans of military history.
